Fat Margaret's Tower

Hotels near Fat Margaret's Tower, Tallinn, Estonia .

In the heart of Tallinn the Estonian Capital, sits Fat’s Margaret’s Tower. No one know how it acquired it’s peculiar name,
but one of the theories is that it was named after a cook who used to work in the tower. Originally a cannon tower
completed in 1531, the tower now serves as a the Estonian Maritime Museum. The tower also boasts one of the best views
of Tallinn available.

Fat Margaret’s Tower is next to or rather a part of the Great Coastal Gate. These structures were both part of the
protection along with five other gates, the city of Tallinn in medieval times. Only the Great Costal and Viru Gates
have survived.

The surrounding location provides much to see and experience including Peter the Great’s Cottage, the Estonian Theater and
Art museum, Tallinn Town Hall, and medieval churches.
