Fed Ex Field

Hotels near Fed Ex Field, Landover, United States .

FedEx Field is the home of the NFL’s Washington Redskins and is the largest football stadium in the league with a seating capacity of over 90,000. The stadium is located near I-495 in an unincorporated area in Prince George’s County, Maryland. FedEx Field even has its own exit on the interstate which is usually open only on event days.

The site of the stadium was once home to Wilson Farm and was opened in 1997 under the name Jack Kent Cooke Stadium, a tribute to the former Redskins owner. After the team and stadium were purchased by Daniel Snyder, the rights to the stadium name were acquired by the FedEx corporation in 1999. In addition to Washington Redskins games, FedEx Field also hosts many college football games including the Prince George Classic, a game usually played between two historically black universities.

FedEx Field is open two hours before game time to all ticket holders and live bands often perform throughout the stadium grounds. Tours of the stadium are also given Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11:00 a.m. and include backstage access to the executive club suites, press box, cheerleaders’ dance studio, interview room, Redskins locker room and playing field. For more stadium information, including driving directions and parking details, visit the Washington Redskins’ website, http://www.redskins.com/.
