Ferris State ranks number nine in terms of size among universities in the state of Michigan with an enrollment of just over 13,000 students. Ten different colleges offer associate and bachelor´s degrees; several master’s degrees are also available as well as doctorate degrees in the fields of optometry and pharmacy. Students have the choice to study at the main campus in Grand Rapids in addition to one of the 20 off-campus locations throughout the state.

Ferris State University was founded in 1884 and named for Woodbridge Nathan Ferris, an educator and former Michigan governor. In the last several years the campus has seen a number of improvements and renovations including the construction of the impressive FLITE (FSU Library for Information, Technology and Education) building, and the Granger Center for Construction & HVACR.

Ferris State offers students many opportunities to participate in extracurricular activities such as NCAA intercollegiate athletic programs, the student newspaper, The Ferris State Torch, Bulldog Radio, a prominent Greek system and much more.
