Located in Fire Engine House Number 1 in Memphis, Tennessee, the Fire Museum of Memphis is dedicated to the documentation of the history of fire fighting in the area and the promotion of fire safety. It is America’s premier interactive fire museum, inviting visitors to step back into time in a turn-of-the-century firehouse, test escape-route-finding abilities and feel the heat of a fire room. The Fire Museum of Memphis also has a permanent exhibition of the history of African American firefighters.

The museum is open Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Admission is $6.00 for adults with discounts for children, senior citizens and military. Tuesdays, admission is two for one.
