The First Unitarian Church of Detroit was built in 1890. The architectural style could be described as Romanesque. The building itself consists of a red sandstone, rock face, with a gabled façade that faces outwards looking over Woodward Avenue. Within the gabled façade is a tri-partite window. There are Romanesque columns on the first floor of the façade; on the side there’s a porch with stone piers. The church was renovated in 1936, but the original design remained intact. The church society was incorporated in 1850; however, the church itself was constructed later. Today, the church is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
