FOAM Fotografiemuseum Amsterdam

FOAM, short for Fotografiemuseum Amsterdam, presents an extensive gathering of photographs covering a variety of subjects and styles. Housed in an old canal house along one of the city’s ubiquitous waterways, FOAM is located at Keizersgracht 609 in Vijzelstraat.

The museum features both seasoned and rising stars of the photography world with their collections comprising many themes such as documentary, fashion and historical, to name a few. FOAM holds exhibitions on a regular basis inside its modern facilities offering wide ample spaces. Large windows and efficient blending of chrome and glass enhance the viewing experience within the exhibition areas. Apart from photographs, FOAM also caters to multimedia artists and graphic design professionals. FOAM bristles with its schedule of exhibitions, proving the popularity of the galleries that has hosted works from the likes of Richard Avedon and Mario Testino.

Accommodations close by include a suitable range from moderately priced cosy guesthouses to the more expensive bigger hotels. The museum lies in the same vicinity as Rembrandtplein, the arts district of Amsterdam. Vijzelstraat can be accessed through trams 16, 24 or 25 from the Centraal Station. FOAM opens at 10 a.m. everyday and closes at 5, extending until 9 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays.
