The Forbidden City is an important part of Chinese history and is now a popular tourist destination. It used to be the Chinese imperial palace and is located in the middle of Beijing in China. It was used by Chinese royalty as the home of the Chinese Emperor, as well as the political and ceremonial center of the government from the Ming Dynasty to the end of the Qing Dynasty. The Forbidden City is currently the home of the Palace Museum.

Forbidden City got its name from the fact that when it used to be the home of the Emperor, no one can get in and out of the area without the Emperor’s permission. Today though, the palace is now under the Palace Museum that displays an extension collection of artifacts and artwork that were built during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Some of the collections of the Palace Museum have been transferred to the National Palace Museum in Taipei but the one in Beijing still holds quite an impressive compilation.

The Forbidden City is one of the most popular tourist destinations not just in the city of Beijing but in the country of China as well.
