Fort Battice in Belgium a military institution form the days of World War I.
In fact this fort was built from 1935 on into the Second World War. The purpose of
Fort Battice was to repel the inevitable German invasion. However, even after
repelling over 700 soldiers it was surrendered to the Germans in 1940. The Germans
dismantled the fort and used it as a laboratory for secret weapons experiments.

Fort Battice is still in use by the Belgian military available, and there are
public tours available.

There are many hotels in close proximity (available for US$80 a night and up)
including: the Dreze Frères, the Le Midi sa, and Villa Les Floralies.
