Fort Harrison State Park has its primary entrance located at 5753 Glenn Road in Indianapolis, Indiana. The park occupies a chunk of land that previously belonged to the US Army, which had its Fort Benjamin Harrison located here. Located on site, in addition to a vast expanse of green space and wooded terrain, visitors will find ample walking trails, picnic areas, and the remains of what used to be a World War II prisoner of war camp, a Civilian Conservation Corps camp, and a Citizen's Military Training Camp, as well as one of the premiere golf courses in the state.

The park is only open to visitors during daylight hours, although there is an inn located onsite that folks can spend the night at. The facilities at the Fort Harrison State Park include fishing spots, a nature center, the 18-hole golf course, a dining, meeting and conference facility, several picnic shelters, and a saddle barn that offers horseback excursions through the park.
