The Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge can be found in Fort Worth, Texas, just ten miles from the heart of the downtown area. The reserve covers some 3,600 acres, making it the largest city-owned nature center in the entire United States. There are 25 miles of trails where you can see a plethora of native plants and wildlife such as buffalo, white tailed deer and wildflowers within a background of forests, wetlands and prairies. It’s great fun for the entire family; take your kids on a hayride and feed the bison, go canoeing or take a guided hike. Fees are as follows: $4 adults, $2 children, $3 seniors. The reserve is open from 8am-7pm Monday-Friday and 7am-7-pm on the weekends.
