The Fort Worth Stockyards are a former livestock market that was dedicated as a National Historical District in the late 1970's. The stockyards celebrate Fort Worth's long tradition as an integral part of the U.S. cattle industry. Fort Worth is located in the northern part of Texas and is the fifth-largest city in the state with a population of nearly 750,000. The Fort Worth Stockyards are just one example of how the city embraces its western heritage and culture.

This area was a very important livestock center up until about 1960; since then, the Fort Worth Stockyards functions more as an entertainment and cultural center of the city. You can find many bars and nightclubs in the vicinity, such as Billy Bob's Texas, that have a western theme and celebrate the good 'ole days of Fort Worth. Don’t miss the Fort Worth Herd, twice daily cattle drives at 11:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

There is no admission fee to the stockyards and open hours vary from business to business. Parking at the stockyards will cost anywhere between $5 and $10.
