The Fort Worth Water Gardens are a breath of fresh air in the middle of Fort Worth’s city center. The gardens are located right next to the Fort Worth Convention Center at 1502 Commerce Street. Designed by noted architects Philip Johnson and John Burgee and built in 1974, the park covers some 4.3 acres. At the park’s center are three pools and a terrace sheltering the area from the interstate. A mediation pool sits surrounded by trees and flowers; it pours down a 90 angle leading to a sunken walkway. Another pool features spraying fountains; the most popular pool cascades down a terrace. The park contains more than 500 species of plants and trees.
