Fox Island County Park contains 605 acres of land and is located at 7324 Yohne Road in the southwestern part of Allen County. 270 acres of the park’s land are protected as a State Nature Preserve.

Found within Fox Island County Park are unique plant and animal species that take to the surroundings of marsh, ponds, sand dunes, wetlands and prairie forest. Seven miles of plotted trails are available for hikers and cross-country skiing is possible during the winter months and some equipment is available for rental at the park. Visitors are encouraged to visit the Nature Center for orientation and a look through the gift shop. There are picnic facilities with grills and even a barbecue pit (with permit). Swimming at Bowman Lake is a favorite pastime in the warmer months, as well as fishing ($2 per person with permit). The Bird Observatory and Astronomical Society Observatory are two other great stops during a visit to the park.

Accommodations in the area include two options on W. Jefferson Blvd, just one mile from the park: Extended Stay America Fort Wayne and the Hampton Inn Ft. Wayne-Southwest. On Ellison Road (1.5 miles away) are the Holiday Inn Express Ft. Wayne and the Staybridge Suites. The Hilton Garden Inn (8615 US 24 West) and the Comfort Suites on Coventry Lane are two more options.
