Dating back to 1930, Fox Theater is the performing arts hub of downtown Bakersfield, California. The theater seats 1500 people and was designed by S. Charles Lee, an architect known for the style of his work. Though in 1994 the Fox Theater was threatened by demolition, a group of community members was able to save the space and restore it.

Today, Fox Theater hosts a wide array of events, ranging from rock concerts to ballet productions. Past performers include Willie Nelson, Chicago and Tony Bennett. It is also the home of Bakersfield’s foreign film program.
