Frederiksberg Kommune

Frederiksberg Kommune is a municipality situated the island of Zealand in Denmark. It is a part of the city of Copenhagen. The municipality covers an area of 8,7 km² and has a total population of 95,029 in 2009, making it the smallest municipality in Denmark area-wise, but also the fifth most populous one, and the most densely populated one.

The city of Frederiksberg is the only town in the municipality, and so, is the site of its municipal council.

Frederiksberg is positioned as an enclave within the municipality of Copenhagen, the national capital. The municipality was originally placed west of Copenhagen, but after a number of smaller municipalities were merged with Copenhagen in 1901, it became completely encircled by Copenhagen.

Frederiksberg was one of the three remaining Danish municipalities not belonging to a County— the others being Copenhagen and Bornholm. On 1 January 2007, the municipality lost its county statute and became part of Region Hovedstaden, the Copenhagen Capital Region.

Frederiksberg municipality was not merged with other municipalities as the result of nationwide "The Municipal Reform" of 2007.

The main sights of the area are Frederiksberg Town Hall, Frederiksberg Palace, Frederiksberg Park, Copenhagen Zoo and University of Copenhagen.

Frederiksberg is easily accessible by car, bus or Metro as well as by bicycle or on foot.
Shopping is focused along the three streets, Gl Kongevej, Falconer Allé and Godthåbsvej. A shopping centre is found right in the centre of Frederiksberg next to the Frederiksberg Metro station. However, many other streets have their portion of interesting shops.
