A symbol of Latvian independence the Freedom Monument sits in the center of Riga,
Latvia. Built in 1935 the monument was intended to honor the fallen Latvian
soldiers in the Latvian War of Independence.

The symbol survived years of Soviet occupation and as such has become even more
of a symbol of Latvian pride and independence.

The Freedom monument is close to several other Latvian attractions. It’s sits
directly across from the Laima Clock ( a clock created by the confectionary maker
of the same name). The monument is also very close to the beautiful Latvian
National Opera House.
