The stadium is quite old, as it was first built in 1891, with major renovations done during the early 1990s. Today, ABSA Stadium plays host to majority of South African rugby games as well as European football games. ABSA Stadium is noted for hosting the 1995 World Rugby Cup, as well as being the venue of one concert of the late Michael Jackson’s History World Tour in 1997.
