Fremont Street

Hotels near Fremont Street, Las Vegas, United States .

Since the 1990´s, visitors to Las Vegas can enjoy the leisure of a pedestrian mall while still keeping their cool in the Fremont Street Experience, whose main attraction is a barrel vault canopy, 90 ft high at the peak and four blocks, or approximately 1,500 ft in length. Fremont Street is rich in history. It held many Las Vegas "firsts," including first hotel in 1906, the first telephone in 1907, and many others. For many years, the western end of Fremont Street was the most frequently portrayed area to show the lights of Las Vegas in movies. The large number of neon signs earned the district the moniker "Glitter Gulch." There are a lot of chain and unique stores on the street and the vault keeps visitors protected from the hot desert sun. Strolling the Fremont Street Experience is an alternative to the gambling offered in the casinos nearby. The Freemont Street Experience is also known for turning off the lights of the casinos that line it before every free show that is given—a rarity in a city known for never letting the neon stop blinking. There are many different nightly light shows and performances, most of which repeat every night. Neonopolis, forming the east end of the pedestrian mall, is a $100 million open-air restaurant, shop and entertainment complex with a 14-screen movie theater.

Many of the casinos in the Fremont Street Experience offer lodging, including the Four Queens Hotel & Casino, the Golden Gate Hotel and Casino, Binion´s Gambling Hall & Hotel and Fitzgerald´s Casino Hotel.
