Futuro Beach, located in the beautiful Fortaleza, Brazil, is a premier destination spot for lovers of sun, sand, and surf. The beach is famous for the barracas, which are rustic cafes built directly on sand where visitors can grab a beach chair, snacks, and umbrella. Some of the larger barracas, which have been growing in size and popularity since the 1990s, have many tables, swimming pools, and sometimes even a stage. In contrast with some of the other area beaches, Futuro Beach does not have corals and reefs near the shore, which makes it ideal for sun worshippers and ocean bathers. Salinity is quite high at Futuro Beach, and the winds which make it an excellent spot for windsurfers and surfers carries the salt inland. This means that buildings and infrastructure in the nearby area do not last as long as in other areas, and there are, thus, fewer of them.
