Futurshow Station

The Futurshow Station (until July 2008 PalaMalaguti) is one of the largest multipurpose indoor sports facilities in Italy, located in Casalecchio di Reno, near Bologna. The indoor stadium is equipped with 8650 fixed seats in the gallery but the whole capacity, which varies depending on the event hosted, may occasionally get to touch the 13,000 units.
Built in December 1993 the facility hosted the basketball games the two teams of Bologna, Fortitudo and Virtus. Initially the field was only Fortitudo’s, but then went through a period where both teams use it for home games. Since 1999 it has become the home of Virtus Bologna as Fortitudo decided to move to the old Land Rover Arena, located in downtown Bologna. This followed a renovation of customizing the installation, which now has many posters and banners of Virtus and even the rooms have elegant colors black and white (the colors of the team).
Even though basketball is the main activity of this facility, it is certainly not the only one as in fact Futurshow Station, multi-purpose container, hosted and hosts several important events: sports, such as the Six days of cycling, World Cup riding, the superbowl of supercross motorcycle racing and is a compulsory stop of the tour in Italy of the stars of Wrestling. Another pride of this arena is surely to have hosted major concerts of great artists as: Depeche Mode, Oasis, David Bowie, Metallica, Sting, Eros Ramazzotti, Vasco Rossi, Elton John, Tina Turner, Spice Girls, Anastacia, Laura Pausini and Bruce Springsteen.
In summer 2008 an intensive restyling work has began which includes the creation of a museum featuring the history of Virtus, the introduction of white chairs and black stairs, new flooring with polished white V on transparency, 4 maxi - screens for replays and many others.
