Gare de Lyon Part-Dieu, located in the district of La Part-Dieu is the main railway station in the city of Lyon, France. It hosts national and regional traffic and is one of the most important stations of matches in Europe.
The station La Part-Dieu station replaces Lyon Brotteaux which has been downgraded to its opening to commercial traffic. Lyon has four other stations, the Gare de Lyon-Perrache station Vaise Lyon, Gare de Lyon-Saint-Paul and station Gorge de Loup.
It was put into service on June the 13th, 1983 as part of an urban development project that aimed for the creation of a second downtown Lyon and one of the largest malls in France. The mall Part-Dieu is located just opposite the station on the boulevard Marius Vivier Merle, an important administrative center and a business center dominated by the "pencil" (Tour Part-Dieu).
