Originally owned by a different group of investors, it is currently the property of the Sports Authority of Nashville, and hosts a number of NHL games where the Nashville Predators are playing.

Aside from hockey, The Sommet Center has also seen its fair share of concerts, basketball games, and even religious gatherings. Some of the more off-beat events hosted there since its opening in 1996 are The Bud Light Cup and The PBR and Ford bull riding series.
