The General Abelardo L. Rodríguez International Airport, is located in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. This single-runway, public-military airport was opened in 1958, and is now part of the Groupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico holding group. In the 1960s the Airport experienced rapid growth and began construction of the new terminal building in 1970. Since then, the original terminal has been assigned to the Mexican Armed Forces as an air base, and the airport’s second terminal is serviced by commercial carriers like Aeroméxico, Inter Jet, Mexicana, Viva Aerobus and Volaris. Today the passenger terminal offers a food court, shops, duty free, parking and services including ground transportation from the terminal by way of local bus, shuttle service (including to and from San Diego, California), and taxis. The Tijuana Airport is located right next to the Brown Field Municipal general aviation Airport in San Diego California, however this airport is not equipped to handled scheduled passenger service.
