General Osorio Square, located in Curitiba, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, is right at the heart of the downtown area. Each Sunday, you’ll find a popular arts and crafts market called Feira Hippie; here a variety of artisans sell their wares, such as woodcrafts, sculptures, paintings and other handicrafts. The square itself was built in 1894 for the Baron of Ipanema. It features a fountain by Valentim. This is also where Banda de Ipanema comes together during Carnival. The square is surrounded by inexpensive discount outlets, supermarkets, restaurants and a post office. From the square you can see the Cantagalo district which stretches down to Copacabana.
