Film and photography lovers are sure to be enamored with the George Eastman House, one of the world’s oldest photography museums and film archives. This Rochester attraction opened in 1949, springing from the estate of George Eastman, founder of the Eastman Kodak Company. It was named a National Historic Landmark in 1966 and today is a leader in film preservation and photograph conservation.

The George Eastman House has an extensive collection of photographs and films. Highlights include Ansel Adams’ early and vintage prints, a major collection of early French photography and the film collections of directors Cecil B. DeMille and Spike Lee. It presents several exhibitions throughout the year in the museum and also shows several films in the Dryden Theatre. Scholars are more than welcome to pay a visit and take a look at the rich collection the Eastman House has to offer.

Museum hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with special extended hours to 8:00 p.m. on Thursdays and 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sundays. Admission prices are $10.00 for adults with discounts for seniors, students and children (November 2009).
