George Washington's Ferry Farm

This boyhood home of first American President George Washington is located on 68 acres of land in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Dating back to the early 18th century, the property has been preserved and is visited by thousands of patrons per year. Though little of the original structure remains, in 2008, archeologists found remains of Washington’s actual house as well as several artifacts.

Throughout the year, visitors roam Ferry Farm on self-guided tours. They are free to browse the Visitor Center to learn more about Washington through various exhibits. Ferry Farm is an important historical site, but it is also an important natural one as well. Visitors are encouraged to stop by Kenmore, the home of Washington’s sister, while in the area as well.

Ferry Farm is open daily March through October from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and in November and December from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission rates are $5.00 for adults with discounts for students, senior citizens and children (2009).
