Opened in 2005, the Georgia Aquarium officially became home to more marine animals than any other aquarium anywhere in the world. When guests enter this vast aquatic wonderland, they gain access to exhibits featuring fish, sharks, and mammals from all corners of the world. The Georgia Aquarium is truly interactive. Stepping foot into an acrylic tunnel, visitors to the Ocean Voyager are literally immersed in a once in a life-time experience, as whale sharks and manta rays whirl past them. Among the many other exhibits, guests can also view the unmatched elegance and beauty of coral reefs and the beings that inhabit them, in the Tropical Diver. Finally, after a long day of touring, the 4D theater provides a wonderfully relaxing diversion; with 3D film and numerous special effects, viewers can experience what it would feel like to be one of the majestic marine creatures they have just peered in upon. General Admissions ticket prices are reasonable, for adults-$26, children-$19.50, and seniors-$21.50. The venue sits in the heart of downtown Atlanta, close to many of the city's premiere restaurants and attractions. For those coming in from out of town, there are numerous exquisite hotel options in the area.

The HIlton Atlanta, the Ritz-Carlton Atlanta, the Hampton Inn Georgia Tech, and the Omni Hotel all are centrally located. Visitors from out of town will also be pleased to know that the aquarium stays open 365 days a year, with regular hours of operation Sunday-Friday: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday: 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
