The Adare Golf Club is only a nine iron from the fabulous Adare Manor Hotel & Golf Resort and has been designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. the world famous golf course architect. It is situated just 20 minutes away from Ireland’s Shannon airport in the charming village of Adare.

Thrown open in 1995, its testing design and the couple of magnificent greens have already raised the Adare Golf Club to one of the finest golf courses in Ireland. It has 18 holes and a yardage of 7138. It has three lakes one of which is of 14 acres anchoring the front nine. The Maigue river flows through the back nine holes providing beauty as well as challenge.

Adare is a major tourist destination and has a number of craft shops. It also has an equestrian centre called Clonshire and has several world famous stables.

Adare is quite a popular venue for conferences and even weddings. Places to see include the Desmond Castle and the ruins of the Franciscan Abbey.

Ancient buildings and monuments along with gardens and parkland make interesting attractions.

Beyond Limerick City in Mungret there used to be a monastery and a famous monastic school with as many as six churches and 1500 monks. The ruins of these are found here including St Nessan’s church now covered in ivy which was surely constructed built before the 12th century.

The Askeaton Franciscan Friary is a ruin by the river where two Irish martyrs lie buried. Don’t miss the carving of St Francis in the chapter room.

The Peter Pan Fun World is a great indoor activity centre for kids from two years and up to 12.
