Gerry Weber Stadion is an indoor arena located in Halle, North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany. It now has a capacity of 12,300 spectators and is the second largest stadium in the district after Heidewaldstadion.
Originally, the stadium in 1991 was a venue for the only German ATP lawn tennis tournament, the Gerry Weber Open, which was built. Meanwhile, it has a convertible roof, air-filled, two-layer PE film that can open and close in 90 seconds a unique in the world system for a range of lawn and a movable infrared heating below the stadium roof. Through this technology upgrades the original tennis stadium developed into a weather-event arena in which rock, pop and classical concerts, TV shows and other sporting events take place, such as dance contests, boxing, handball, volleyball and basketball games. The stadium was the venue of the 2007 Men's Handball Championship. Moreover, 2008 was the first time that a football tournament was played there on natural grass.
