Addo Elephant National Park is an elephant and wildlife park located close to Port Elizabeth, South Africa. It began in 1931 as a sanctuary for only 11 elephants and a small area of land. Today, the park is home to more than 450 elephants, several species of animals from wildlife to insects, and 164,000 hectares of land which is set to be expanded to 360,000 hectares.

Opening times in the park vary according to season but the wildlife viewing area is often open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. during summer and from 7 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. during winter.

Visitors to the park can choose a variety of activities to do – game drives, horseback riding for those 16 years old and above, touring the park on vehicle, bird watching, hiking or trekking, and other guided activities.

Other facilities in the park include a fuel station, shop, post box, telephone, restaurant, and picnic/braai areas and swimming pool for overnight guests. Addo Elephant National Park has also various accommodation options inside the park such as various restcamps (Addo Main Camp and Camp Matyholweni) and private lodges (Gorah Elephant Camp, River Bend Lodge, Darlington Lake Lodge, and Nguni River Lodge).
