Glasgow Queen Street railway station

Glasgow Queen Street is the smaller of Glasgow’s two main railway termini and the third-busiest station in Scotland. It is located between George Street to the south and Cathedral Street Bridge to the north, at the northern end of Queen Street adjacent to George Square.

Queen Street station is the terminus for all inter-city services to destinations in the North of Scotland and serves the Greater Glasgow conurbation's northern towns and suburbs, as well as the Edinburgh shuttle. The platforms from The Queen Street Station are on two levels. The larger of the two levels and the terminus for routes to Edinburgh and north of the Central Belt run by First ScotRail diesel multiple units is the high level station. The Queen Street Tunnel runs beneath the Buchanan Galleries shopping centre to the Sighthill area northeast of the city centre and through it the high level approaches the station building.

The most central stop on the North Clyde Line of the Glasgow suburban electric network is the low level. Trains run frequently between Ballogh, Helensburg, and Milngavie on the Firth of Clyde, and Airdrie, on the edge of the Greater Glasgow conurbation, Drumgelloch and Springburn. The low-level line between High Street, Queen Street and Charing Cross is the oldest underground railway in the city, being built before the Glasgow Subway.
