Goor

Goor is a railway station in the Dutch town Goor, near the Twente Canal. The station is on the line Hengelo - Zutphen (opened on November 1, 1865).

The station building is of standard type SS 4th grade and was opened on November 1, 1865, the right wing being built in 1904. Since the NS has stopped the sale of tickets, the station building turned into a tourist office and a (small) museum.

Syntus operates the train service. Three major destinations are possible from Goor: Hengelo, Zutphen and Oldenzaal. The Goor station has two tracks. The platforms are on the outside of the track and are located opposite each other. Track 1 is on the side of the (old) station building, platform 2 is on the other side. In the middle of the station, the tracks can be crossed. On track 1 stops the train to Zutphen, on the train track 2 to Oldenzaal. There are a number of food stores available at the station.

Also a bus service to Hengelo, Borkelo and Holten is available from Goor station.

In the surroundings of Goor station can be found the moated castle of Weldam. The castle was originally built in 1389 and it was converted into a mansion house in 1568. It is set into a beautiful French-style garden.
