Adlerschanze

Adlerschanze is one of the four ski-jumping hill in the center of Hinterzarten in Upper Black located in Titisee-Neustadt, Germany. In 1923, the ski club was founded and was built the very first jump. Adlerschanze was built in 1924 and in February 1925 the first competition was held. In 1935 the hill was rebuilt and served as a preparation plant for the 1936 Winter Olympics in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Winter sports legend Birger Ruud trained in Adlerschanze. Particular attention was given the jump in the active period of the great Georg Thoma, held from 1965 to the hill record with 82 meters and was rarely beaten on his home hill.
From 1976 the fort was obsolete and was no longer used for international competitions. In August 1982, the new ski jump was inaugurated when the 1st International Summer Goto opened. Since then this contest is held each year and as the origin of the Summer Grand Prix. In 1998/99 the last reconstruction took place. The new ski jump ramp allows jumps to 115 meters, and includes many facilities such as an elevator, a snow making and floodlights.
Adlerschanze is a base for Olympic ski jumpers and Nordic combined and national teams from many countries use the site for training. In addition to the Adlerschanze Hinterzarten still exist in the following jumps: HS77, K30, and K15. All the hills are covered with mats and the HS77-jump is used even for international junior competitions.
