Götaplatsen is a public square located at the southern end of Kungsportsavenyn, in Gothenburg, Sweden. The Götaplatsen square was inaugurated during the Gothenburg International Industrial Exhibition in 1923; it was to commemorate the city’s 300th anniversary. This is Gothenburg's cultural hub, enclosed by the Gothenburg Museum of Art, the Gothenburg Concert Hall, the City Library and the Gothenburg City Theatre. The Poseidon statue by Carl Milles is situated at the center of the square and it has become one of the main symbols of the city. Legend has it that if you are unmarried and take a photo of the statue, you will remain single all your life. From the top of the stairs of the Art Museum, you will have a fantastic view of Kungsportsavenyn, it is also a good place to enjoy a coffee and take in the great view.
