For a peek into the history of Recife, look no further than the state government house, known as Palácio do Campo das Princesas in Portuguese. Located in the heart of the city's historic downtown, the government house has been lovingly preserved and is a popular tourist attraction, as well as a historical landmark.

Built in 1841, the building is still active today as the seat of government for all of Pernambuco, the Brazilian state that Recife is located in. The building is equally popular for Baobab, the park with many beautiful trees, that is located in front of the building.
