Olives got their start in the region when the early Franciscan missionaries from Spain began to grow them in 1769 at the Mission San Diego de Alcala. Ever since then, native Californians have been spicing up their dinner tables with this delicacy, known for its distinctive flavor and abundant health benefits. One of Ontario's oldest business ventures, Graber olives have become a well-loved local tradition, ever since the days when C.C. Graber himself cured them in barrels and gifted them to neighbors. The Graber Olive company now offers a variety of products, including olive oil, gift baskets, cookbooks, nuts and sweets. Tours are possible in this delightful residential location, which is open daily from 9 am to 5 pm, excepting major holidays.
