Often referred to as Chicago’s front yard, Grant Park is located in the Loop area of the beautiful city of Chicago. It was officially designated as a park in 1844 as an effort to leave parts of the city untouched by development. The park was originally known as Lake Park and was renamed in 1901 as Grant Park in honor of American Civil War General and U.S. President Ulysses S. Grant.

Today, Grant Park is one of Chicago’s prime attractions. It is the site of the Art Institute, the Field Museum of Natural History and the Shedd Aquarium, three premier museums. The Buckingham Fountain, one of the world’s largest fountains, can also be found in Grant Park. In recent years, many parts of the park have been updated, including the northwestern corner that is now known as Millennium Park. It includes a variety of artistic features designed by several artists and architects.

Grant Park is one of the finest attractions in the Chicago area, for it really has so much to offer.
