Opened in 1994, the Green River Amtrak Station (GRI) replaced a former Amtrak station in neighboring Thompson, Utah. Green River is the first stop west of the Colorado State Line, and is a popular destination for fly fishing, and for access to nearby Arches National Park, Canyonlands National Park, and Moab, Utah.

The Green River Amtrak Station is a single-track train station serving the California Zephyr Amtrak Line, which stretches from Emeryville, California on the San Francisco Bay to Chicago, Illinois. The station is unmanned, and therefore has no hours of operation, but does include a wooden shelter for passengers awaiting the California Zephyr. Annually over 1,500 people board and depart at the Green River Amtrak Station.

The station is located at 250 South Broadway Avenue in Green River, and does have a parking lot, which is free of charge for passengers.
