Currently known as the Kigali International Airport, the Gregoire Kayibanda International Airport is the major airport serving the Kigali capital of Rwanda. It is the major gateway for all of the country’s destinations and serves a transit airport for Bukavu and Goma in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. Located in the Kanombe suburb in Kigali’s eastern edge, the airport is about twelve kilometers from the city center. The airport served approximately 135, 189 passengers in 2004.
