Gremberghoven is a fairly new Rhine neighborhood in the southeast of Cologne. It covers an area of almost 6 km2, inhabited by 3,000 people. The name Gremberghoven has been used since 1922 and is composed of the names of the districts of Cologne and Gremberg Westhoven.
Gremberghoven is bordered on the east by Rath / Heumar, on the southeast by Finkenberg, on the south by Porz, on the west by Ensen and Westhoven and on the north by Humboldt / Gremberg and Kleinostheim.
Gremberghoven is a railroad town, which was created after the First World War. The settlement houses with large gardens form the core of Gremberghoven. The multi-storey blocks of flats and terraced houses are now seen mainly as a simple area. The town owes its existence to the same Gremberghoven freight station, planned in 1913 but built not until 1917 because of The World War. In 1921, was erected here a break point and the nearby railroad town called colony.
The Bundesautobahn 559 passes through the village core to the north. The main bus lines are: No. 151, No. 152, No. 154.
The Serbian Orthodox Church should be mentioned as a special feature of the zone. The church is available to all Orthodox faithful, worshiping and liturgy being celebrated in several languages. Other churches to be visited: The Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit exists since 1925, The Evangelical St. Matthew Church. Another landmark in the area is the NBC Tower.
