Station Groningen is the main railway station in the city of Groningen. It lies on the south side of town just across the Channel Connection.

The current station is the third station of Groningen. It was opened in 1884 and since then became Groningen's main railway hub of the northeastern Netherlands. After the breakdown of the ramparts was possible construction of new representative buildings. The Main Station of Groningen is one of the finest terminals in the Netherlands. It was designed by Isaac Gosschalk and was finished in 1896. In 1999 the building was restored to its original state. The central hall it’s the main attraction. Most of the passengers which are traveling to and from Groningen have good opinions about it. They say that is beautiful, authentic and romantic drive.

Two companies operate services at this station: Nederlandse Spoorwegen and Arriva. Behind the station is a stabling point for many trains and the station has nine platforms. The Groningen station is the furthest north Nederlandse Spoorwegen operate, Arriva operating all further north services. From this station are possible a lot of major destinations and travelers can go directly to places like Assen, The Hague, Amsterdaam Airport, Utrecht, Leeuwarden, Hoogeveen, Leer and others.

The station is an important hub for both local and regional buses and for the local buses in Groningen. The bus station is located on the front of the station.
