The African American Historical Museum of Fort Wayne, Indiana opened in February 2000 after nearly 25 years of collection efforts by African American teachers Hana L. Stith and Miles Edwards. The museum features ten major exhibits spread on two floors of the John Dixie Building. Such displays include the Coming to America Room, the African Village, the Underground Railroad and a Sports Archive. The museum also host special events throughout the year.

The African American Historical Museum is open Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., on Saturdays from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on Sundays by appointment.
