The Gusman Center for the Performing Arts, located in Miami, Florida, is a premiere destination for world-class arts and entertainment. Upcoming events include the Brian Adams Solo Acoustic Tour, Joe Bonamassa in Concert, and the Miami Youth Ballet Presents The Nutcracker. This Mediterranean-inspired cultural center was inaugurated in 1926, and since then, its Wurlitzer organ, dramatic turrets and shining balconies against a simulated night sky have become popular icons in the local conscience. Maurice Gusman, a wealthy south Florida businessman, rescued the center from demolition and gave them over to the city in 1975, and since then, it has seen numerous updates and reparations. Restoration architect Richard J. Heisenbottle developted a multi-year plan to improve the center, and added new lighting and audio equipment, in addition to enlarging the stage.
