Gutleutviertel is a district of Frankfurt. It is located downtown on the north bank of the River Main. In the east it extends over the Peace Bridge to the meadow beyond Hüttenstrasse, where the railway station district begins. It lies on 2.2 km2 inhabited by almost 5,500 people. It is a changing neighbourhood with the development of residential and commercial zone at the former Frankfurt’s western harbor area.
Its name - Gutleutviertel comes from the medieval Gutleuthof, a hospital for lepers in a village outside the city walls. It is first mentioned in the year 1286 for the first time.
In the west of the neighborhood near the new Main-Neckar Bridge right on the banks of the Main is Sommerhoffpark with its ancient trees.
A new landmark and an architectural highlight is completed in 2004 109 meters high Western Harbor Tower.
