The Christchurch Botanic Gardens are botanical gardens located in Christchurch, New Zealand. It was founded in the early 1860s after an English Oak tree was planted in commemoration of the marriage between Prince Albert and Princess Alexandra. The gardens span 30 hectares of land, most of which lie on the Avon River’s loop.

The Christchurch Botanic Gardens opens at 7 a.m. all year round. Closing time varies depending on the time of year. From December to January it closes at 9 p.m. In March and October it closes at 8 p.m. In April, May, and September, the Gardens close at 6:30 p.m., and during June, July, and August, the Gardens close at 5:30 p.m. The Conservatories found on the Garden grounds are open from 10:15 a.m. to 4 p.m.
