The “Commons,” also know as the Halifax Common, is an urban park in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Once a swampy forest, the Common was the creation of surveyors shortly after Halifax was settled in 1749. Although the large, open area originally had military motives, today the park is meant for playing, strolling and relaxing, with a large fountain in the middle of the North Common, and tennis courts, a soccer field, outdoor swimming pool, a skate park, and several softball diamonds on the Central Common. Also located within the Commons is the Halifax Pavilion, a music venue, popular for outdoor concerts.

The Halifax Common is within walking distance of the many attractions of Downtown Halifax, like the Halifax Metro Centre, the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site, St. Paul’s Anglican Church, the Nova Scotia Centre for Craft and Design, the Granite Brewery, Province House, and Point Pleasant Park.
