The Hamilton International Airport is located in New Zealand in the Waikato region. The airport used to be a Royal Air Force Base of New Zealand during the Second World War. It is found along the State Highway 21 and is around 20 minutes from the Central Business District of Hamilton City. The airport was already in use in 1935 before the Second World War as a stop over for refueling of planes traveling in the area.

The airport received its first official commercial flight in 1950 as tourism in the Waikato region grew. Further developments in the airport led it to being able to accommodate more commercial flights. The airport is also the location of the New Zealand “Crew Training Centre” of the British flight training organization called CTC. The CTC provides new pilots to numerous airlines in the United Kingdom.

The airport has facilities like internet services with WiFi access and internet kiosks. They also have the Koru Lounge which offers refreshments and magazines to pass the time while waiting for their flights. Other facilities include first aid centers, animal transport, lost property, fire rescue and safety, a café and bar, duty free stores and a Paper Plus outlet which sell magazines and books. Some sights and attraction in Rotorua are the Otoranga Kiwi House, The Waitomo Caves, The Tongariro National Park, The Hobbiton Movie Set in MataMata, and Sky diving in Taupo.
