Hans Hedemann Surf School is the place for visitors to learn how to tackle the difficult sport of surfing. The school was founded in 1997 by Hans Hedemann, a Hawaiian surfer who joined the pro surfing tour immediately after leaving high school.

With two locations (North Shore and Waikiki), the Hans Hedemann school is one of the top organizations in Hawaii and features many renowned instructors including Johnny Boy Gomes. Prices for individual private lessons start at $130 for a two-hour session at the Waikiki spot near Kapiolani Park. Many different types of instruction are available, from body boarding and classic long-boarding to short-boarding and ocean safety lessons. Surf camps are given as well, along with group lessons and lessons with Hedemann himself.
