Located on one of the few white sand beaches on the west coast of the Hawai’i Island (referred to almost exclusively as the “Big Island”), Hapuna Beach State Park is a large and popular state beach and park in Hawaii. Frequently voted as one of the best beaches in the United States, the beach is ½-mile long, and over 200 feet wide. The beach is popular with swimmers, body boarders, and snorkelers, with the latter especially drawn to the south end of the beach.

Hapuna Beach State Park includes restrooms, showers, a picnic pavilion with picnic tables, a concession stand for refreshments, and equipment rental facilities for snorkeling and body boarding. The park and beach are free of charge to all visitors, and parking facilities are available on-site.

Just two miles south of Kawaihee on Queen Ka’ahumanu Highway (also known as Highway 19), Hapuna Beach State Park is a short drive to Waimea and the Waikoloa Village.
