With trains passing through along the Capitol Limited line, the Harpers Ferry Amtrak Station, in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, is part of an extension of stations from Union Station in Washington DC to Chicago’s Union Station. MARC commuter service also runs through the station, which was originally constructed by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad. Due to its 1889 construction, this Victorian building is a part of the Harpers Ferry historic district. It has been recently renovated. The Harpers Ferry Amtrak Station features a platform and waiting area, and is open weekdays from 5:30am to 7am (it is closed on weekends). There is no ticketing office available at this Amtrak location. Area accommodations like the Comfort Inn, Harpers Ferry Guest House, and Between the Rivers B&B are all conveniently located by the restored 18th Century town’s national historic park district, and the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers.
